Prospecting in MLM can be very frustrating. There are times when it would be easier to admit failure and simply give up, but something will happen that will get you all excited and pull you right back in.
I must admit that this is what exactly happened to me.
Almost three years ago I joined my 3rd network marketing company when I swore I wouldn't. I had failed miserable with the 1st one - I had no idea what I was doing. I didn't even get a chance to fail in my 2nd venture - the company folded soon after it began. When I was approached for the 3rd time naturally I was very skeptical.
I thought to myself, third time lucky. The company and their plan looked good to me and the product was something I could relate to, but most of all I realized I still had the MLM bug.
My first year was great. In a very short period of time I reached the 1st level of promotion, followed shortly by one of my personal downline getting promoted and then one of his personal team members getting promoted too.
I could see a trend developing - everyone in the team that was actually doing the business were like myself, we had all been involved in at least one other network marketing company prior to this one.
No matter how much training and support we gave the rest they still weren't getting it - just like I was with my first MLM Company. So we turned our attention to seeking out experience MLMers. While we spent a lot of time and money advertising and searching for the go-getters our teams numbers died away and our businesses suffered.
About this time I was beginning to feel disheartened when out of the blue I get a phone call from someone asking me was I still with my company, I like to take another look.
I couldn't believe it. Here was someone who we had presented our company to almost 2 years ago and they seemed at the time to be as skeptical as hell, are now wanting to find out more.
Over a 4-day period this person has been to our company presentation, made a decision and signed-up as a consultant.
It just goes to show that in network marketing you'll never know what will happen. One minute your up the next your down, then back up again, but one thing seem sure no matter what you do in network marketing (once it's something) it will bring you a step closer to your goal.
Like a successful network marketer once said to me when I asked him "what is the one most important piece of advice you can offer anyone in this business" he said simply "stick at it! Because in network marketing you'll never know what could happen." Jeremiah O'Connell
